Worst Consumer Experience of my life. Dion Wired is unbelievably aweful.
I bought and paid for an I7 Asus computer with a solid state drive on the Black Friday sale from the Dion Wired online store. The only efficient thing that Dion Wired did was take my money - R14999.00 plus R60 delivery charge. The site indicated that the computer was available and that their delivery promise is 5 - 10 days. After 12 days, I tried to call the number given in the order confirmation - no reply. I tried the email address - to this day no reply. I went into the Cresta branch who gave me no more than a shrug. I tried the Woodmead branch and was told that they had my order but there was no stock and they weren't getting any more. No solution was offered. I eventually got hold of a Sales Manager named Clinton. If you need help - Clinton is your only hope. He can't actually help you but at least he makes you feel like he can! Clinton told me that Dion Wired Online is an embarrassment and after hours (and more hours) of phoning, holding on, being cut off etc, Clinton offered me a 6,6% discount on a demo unit. When that didn't materialise for an assortment of reasons involving more phone calls and delays, I was offered an I5 Zenbook 3 which I agreed to accept. However, once again bad news - there was no stock, so I accepted the demo unit (this time for no discount or delivery). It's a beautiful computer, so I put the bad experience behind me, got my IT guy to set everything up for me in time to leave on holiday for 4 weeks. Little did I know that my problems had only just begun.
After a few days the computer started hanging. Then it crashed altogether, giving an error message, "CRITICAL ERROR Your start menu isn't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in". I tried all the usual things but couldn't get the computer to work. Once again, I called my trusty friend Clinton who referred me to the Sommerset Mall branch (One and quarter hours drive away). When I got there, I asked if they had stock of the Zenbook 3 and a brand new one was produced. As soon as they realised who I was it was hastily shut away again. I kid you not - they kept me waiting four and a quarter hours! The technician said, "This computer is dead. Everything's *******ed - even the data". They refused to exchange for the new one that I knew was there. They refused to exchange for their demo unit, sitting right there on display. They refused to give my money back. Eventually, the technician re-formatted the computer and looking very pleased with himself, told me it was fixed.
So now, UNBELIEVABLY, after paying for a brand new I7, expecting it to arrive well before my holiday, I am sitting with a used and faulty I5, without software. How is this legal?
At this stage, I don't even want my money back, I want this computer replaced with a new one. Is that too much to ask Dion Wired?
