Useless Staff

My wife bought an X-Box with a 500Mb data contract for R389 pm at Dion Wired. It was for her son who is a chef, he had budgeted R 400 a month for it. They asked for a top up account with a limit of R50 - the value of the 500 Mb. We got the first two R389 accounts for R13,271 and R24,974.

After the first account, we contacted Dion Wired in the Grove, where we took out the contract. They sent a query to Vodacom and over a period of two weeks and various follow ups, they had no news. I had the contact of a Vodacom executive who I then contacted. It took three days for us to find out the contract isn't a top up, but a normal contract where (we learned) the limit only comes into effect after the session ends. Each session was downloading a game, and the next a game and updates. Probably 15 - 25 Gb each. The plan was that once the data cut off, the X-Box would be connected to the uncapped wifi at home.

Vodacom understood. They extended us a "gesture of goodwill" by discounting the data cost from contract rates to top up rates, almost R32k discount on a R38k account. But the remaining R6,800 was still way more than the R400 budgeted for per month. So I went back to Dion Wired to ask them to take responsibility for the error. We have a letter from them admitting they messed it up. How would a 500Mb data contract EVER service an X-Box? AND if they knew how the limit worked on the contract, they surely did not warn us!

SO - DION WIRED - Please take responsibility for the lack of knowlege of your staff whereby you have breached several of our rights as a consumer, and pay the account! I have completed the NCC forms, I will submit them by the end of the week.
