I came across a Dion Wired advert online whilst searching for a 320gb PS3 console. The advert stated that for R2000-00 you could purchase the console, an official PS3 Dualshock controller, the PS Move Eye, a Move motion controller and two games. This conflicted with the advert image as that showed THREE games and TWO Move motion controllers. The advert states that the item is Out of Stock but there is no mention of it being permanently unavailable and there is no disclaimer that the bundle may differ from the image provided. I contacted the online "support team" to find out when the bundle would be back in stock and if I could pre-pay to have it delivered as soon as it was received. They said they would not be getting the bundle in stock again and that I would not be allowed to purchase it. They then tried to sell me an inferior product for a greater price! I sent them excerpts from the Consumer Protection Act and the Advertising Regulations to point out that they were contravening both these legal acts. They then tried to blame Google for not removing the advert! This is utterly ridiculous as the advert remains on the Dion Wired domain - which their tech team MUST have access to. This means that they could deactivate the link at any time with relative ease. They are still responsible for live pages that are active on the domain - whether or not the page is currently displayed on the website. They have access and the ability to deactivate the mentioned link and choosing not to is creating misleading and false advertising - to be specific, it is called Bait Marketing where a product that is unavailable for purchase is continued to be advertised as a way to lure customers in to be persuaded to buy a more expensive item. I continued to stand my ground and was then told that the 320gb PS3 has been discontinued! This is a load of *******. I called them out on this nonsense. They then quickly backtracked and changed their minds to say that they are out of stock and the supplier is out of stock so they cannot source the product. This is when they should source it from an alternative supplier. Today I received another mail with a link showing another PS3 console that is now available for purchase. It has a bigger harddrive, however, it has no additional items and the advert is, again, misleading. It does not even mention whether or not a controller is included - so for all I know, I would receive it and then have to pay another R750-R900 to buy a controller in order to even use the item! Plus, this item is R1500-00 more expensive; despite not including anything else. They are clearly trying to rip me off by coercing me into buying a more expensive product, instead of doing a single thing to rectify their mistake and adhere to the code of ethics that is noted in their email signature. They are supposedly monitored by a company that is dedicated to complying with ethical conduct and doing "the right thing" for their customers. I copied this company in on all the mails and they have not responded in any way. I told Rehana Kadir (support) that the very least they could do is enable me to purchase the newer console (with a controller and delivery) at the price of the other large bundle of items. It would still not be equal value, however, I would consider it an acceptable alternative. Rehana refused. They have done absolutely nothing to try and truly rectify their mistake and misconduct and they have consistently refused to offer a viable alternative. Instead they are trying to con me into paying R1500-00 more, for less. This is unacceptable.
