Poor quality blame on client

My mom and I bought receiver at Dion Wired Mall of the South last year October. When we bought it they were on our case about insurance blah blah blah and we didn't want it. Less did we know that they were selling us something that won't be working 10months down the line.

We were watching TV and the next thing we didn't have sound as the receiver switched itself off and it was not the first time but that day was the last day of it playing.

We took it back to them since it was still under guarantee a month later we were told the deck had liquid damage. I couldn't comprehend since the deck was in a secured wood stand how it got water.

They told us we need to pay R3000. How does a deck that is in a secured stand ends up having liquid damage? I mean when it decided to die we were watching TV and it went off.

I'm starting to believe that these people wanted us to buy this insurance because they know they can sell **** if they want.
