massive damage caused by computer purchased from dionwired

after buying a new laptop from diowired , i plugged my hard drive external-100 percent health according to hard drive sentinelhard drive monitoring program-which monitors thehard drive health in real time

i plugged the hard drive concerned into the barely used laptop recently acquired from dionwired

the computer needed to be reset as it was

somewhat sluggish, as it had been running

for a while

i then pressed the button to safely remove

my external hard drive from the computer.

when the computer indicated that the

drive was safe to remove, i removed it, but it appears

that the antivirus on the computer

(mcafee antivirus) had initiated a scan of the

external hard disk without giving any

indication, and without asking me for permission

so i had absolutely no

way of knowing that the drive was being

accessed, and therefore not to be removed

at that point in time

the computer should also have told me that the drivewas not safe to remove, as it was technically still being accessed by the

mcafee antivirus,

after rebooting the computer, i reattached

the hard drive and there was no content

showing on the drive other than that the

drive was showing up on windows, when i

tried to access the drive content, it

indicated repeatedly the the data on the

drive had been *******ed.

the drive then intermittently stopped showing up on windows

unfortunately these results were replicated on another

computer

i have been quoted 15000 to recover the data and replace the drive, and this is unlikely to be completely successful

i have lost tens of thousands of rands worth of data, and i expect dionwired to compensate me
