Dishonest Behavior at Cresta Branch

I had a disgusting experience in store today whereby a PS4 Pro bundle was advertised on the shelf for R6999. Upon scanning at till price came up around R8500. I informed the cashier the price on the shelf was lower. We went and looked together and she agreed that clearly the price on the shelf was R6999 and there were MULTIPLE units of the bundle packed there at the advertised price. She called the manager (Lebo) to come and change the price on the system as it was incorrect.

The manager was rude and confrontational from the start. He went straight to the shelf and started moving the units before even having the discussion with me. Denied that the price was incorrect on the system. We walked to the shelf where he started unpacking all the bundled units that were sitting at the location on the shelf, and found one unit right at the back that was supposedly the unit for R6999. (a different product).

He then showed me a different shelf (3 shelves away) with the price at R8500 and said there is the correct price. I informed him that being so far away from the shelf and unit that the products were packed i did not see that and do not agree that it is my problem.

He then stated that the other location was just being used to pack units so that they can be moved to the correct location when customers purchase from the other shelf (...note: there was only 1 unit at the shelf with R8500 - but multiple units at the location where advertised for R6999).

Manager argued and said if it wasnt advertised elsewhere (on the different shelf) would agree i am correct but i am not.

This is false advertising - I showed the manager that even the label did not state any difference for what I was purchasing He stated yes but the barcode when scanned would be different. The barcode number is a size 1 font and clearly unreadable to the naked eye as i showed him. He again said the other shelf is where the units should have been.

Once again not my fault - hell of a waste of time and clearly against fair consumer protection practices.

Why should I be held accountable for the errors by the Cresta store staff?

Also, really dishonest that all the units where moved straight away while before we even started the discussion. I had to go to the shelf where he was trying to rearrange the items and bring out the correct unit from right at the back of the shelf. Then has the audacity to tell me maybe customers packed it like that.

I asked where the customers would have moved them from and there was no answer. There was only space for 1 unit where the other "correct" higher price was located. That is when the tune changed and i was told it was packed there temporarily and should have been at the back of the shelf.

Then why were all of them in the front where the advertised price was clearly R6999.

He said he will not be giving the unit at the advertised price. i asked for his managers details. He said he does not have his managers direct details (...like seriously?) and then proceeds to give me a "head-office number". I call "head-office" only to find out he has given me his store number.

Obviously doesnt want me to get hold of the regional manager. Eventually i get the head-office number but told I must call on monday.

Really dishonest and annoying that this is how a manager behaves. and the fact that no further individual could be contacted to resolve the issue with an individual who does not understand the basics of retail.
