Diamond Pools

Has anyone else had dealings with Guan Smith from Diamond Pools, Pool and Pond Installation and Maintenance? We accepted a quote to repair the pool jets, Acid wash the pool and removal and replacement of paving. We paid a deposit on 4th March and was advised work would be completed by 13th March. Once the pool was emptied, they found 2 cracks at the bottom of the pool and advised the pool would need to be replaced as the original installation was done incorrectly. The quote was adjusted, and we had to pay a further amount for a full new pool installation (6mx4m). Once the further amount was paid, the old pool (3mX 5M) was removed and the already exiting hole slightly increased to 4mx 5.3m. Guan confirmed that the pool will be delivered on 10 April and they will dig the correct fit once the shell is on site. The shell never arrived, and he blamed the supplier of damaging the shell when they drove out from the site and ripped the one side open. Guan then confirmed that a new shell had to be made which would take another 2 weeks, expected to be end April. He dumped garden rubble on the open stand next to my property and assured that it would be removed in 2 days. To date this hasn’t been done. Guan was unreachable for the next 2 weeks, and his wife advised that he was in hospital, and apologised for not informing us. Eventually Guan agreed 10 May to deliver the shell and do the installation. He confirmed on the 9th that all was in order and he will work through the weekend to ensure everything gets done. On the 10th there was no show. Eventually we got hold of Maryke whom advised to call him at 14:15, but it was no surprise that the phone was switched off. It’s been over 2 months and I’m left with no choice to follow the legal process and open a case with the police of theft under false pretenses. In total Guan was paid R48 200-00, with minimal work done, no plan to repay the money or no further plan to deliver the pool.
