Worst service after claiming for an accident.

On the 4th of November a guy crashed into my car while I was waiting on the stop sign for oncoming traffic to pass. After he gave me his cellphone number he ran away under the pretense that he was going to fetch his license and ID for us to go to the police station. The following day I went to the police station and gave all the details I had and the details I had about the guy that bumped into me. As it is stipulated on my policy I informed him that my excess fee for accidents is R5 750.00 and he will have to pay for it as he bumped into me. Now almost everyday I am being pestered by Dial Direct consultants informing me that the guy that bumped into me should pay the whole amount of fixing the car R12 000+ (including the part paid by the insurance). I don't understand why I am being put in the middle of all of this. Are you not supposed to deal with him with regards to paying your part? I have no written agreement with this guy and I don't understand why should I be liable or responsible of getting him to pay the full amount as I am even struggling to even get him to pay the excess fee he said he would pay. What do I pay the insurance for if this is all my responsibility? I've informed your consultants time and time again that I do not have any written agreement with this guy and that the only information I gave him is how much my excess is as stipulated on my policy, the amount which he has not paid till today, but each day I am being put under pressure by the very same insurance company that I pay each month to get him to pay. I am struggling to get him to pay me my excess fee and you telling me that it my responsibility to get him to pay the repair amount. How the hell am I supposed to do that? If this is the service I pay for then I would rather have my policy canceled with you as it is the same as not having insurance if I am being under pressure and being threatened to get this guy to pay when I still have to put together my excess fee. This is ridiculous.
