Unjustified increase in premium

I very seldom complain. This review is not a complaint. I do not require Dialdirect's reply - thanks. I have been a client of this insurance company for many years - more than a decade. Three cars, trailer & household contents. One claim on minor damage to wife's car 8 years ago when she reversed into a sign post. Really minor. Have had no reason to complain other than one aspect - every year this time you receive a dreaded re-rate letter. Every year a ridiculous 20% + increase is proposed. Every year you call to object and every year they make you feel extra special when agreeing to reduce the increase to a more manageable number. I do understand the concept of increased repair cost, statistical probability over time that an accident will find me and that my household content is ever increasing. Fine. Accepted. I also know that the value of my vehicles depreciate every day and every kilometer I drive and that retail value is ever decreasing. I also know that we are fortunate enough to always have my wife at home - watching over things. This year - August 2020, something changed. New management decisions? New business strategy? I don't know. The dreaded letter came - this time a proposed 22.6% increase in premium. Nothing new on my side. No increased risk profile. Nothing. Just a "thank you for your extended loyalty - pay us more money, lots more money". Well, no. I do not accept an increase that is totally unjustified. 14 Days & 3 emails later after I requested a consultant to contact me to discuss the issue the call finally came through. I was actually looking forward to chat to Dialdirect - have always been met with a helpful and considerate person. This time around the poor guy tried his best to manipulate the system - to no avail. No matter what he tried - that increase stuck. 34% increase for a car that is parked in a garage, awaiting my daughter to become of legal age. 38% for household content that increased in insured value with only 8%. The other cars, slightly smaller increase - but still for something that's of less value than last year... Dear Dialdirect, I thank you for a decade of cover and a decade of being reasonable after some annual negotiations. I do not understand how our relationship went sour. I don't understand what I did wrong. I hope my review makes some people take a closer look at that annual letter. I hope some people will start asking questions and I hope some people will - like me, make a final decision on rather forming a new relationship with someone who cares. All the best, Andre

Reviewer Update
Whilst the revised offer is appreciated and the effort of many friendly and keen consultants - especially Louis is noted it looks like we will be parting ways after a long road together. The premium is no longer competitive and if it took this much effort to negotiate down to the latest offer I have little hope for the next premium review. Thank you in any case for trying.
