Taking people for granted

I insured my corrola quest with dial direct, Then the car got into accident on 2nd of September, the car was at home Eastern cape , for a month .on that day i was not the driver ,my brother was. Insurance declined the claim saying I should have informed them if I wanted to take my car home. because they only new my renting address which is in Rustenburg. My questions are? 1. was I made aware of reporting the car when taking it home? 2.if yes how? And by who 3.why they claim my brother was a regular driver more than me when my brother used the car even laser than when it here with me?
