Road Side Assist

My car broke down on a very busy , unsafe road yesterday afternoon. I called the roadside assist number at 2.33pm, was promised that they would call a towing company to assist me and would get an sms confirmation and expected arrival time. After 15mins, called again, only to be told that I needed to first agree to pay the tow truck driver R400 if I wanted car towed back to my local garage. Was told policy only covers towing to nearest dealer. I was already in unsafe area, nearest suggested dealer was even more unsafe? Fortunately had R400, not sure what alternative would have been and as I explained, was a small price to pay for my life ! As a female on her own in an unsafe area, surely client's safety is first concern, discuss payments later? Tow truck finally arrived at 4.10pm. Needless to say, it was a nerve racking experience , I'm just lucky not to have been attacked during that time. So disappointed at lack of caring and response time.
