MASSIVE ANNUAL INCREASE AND REFUSAL TO EXPLAIN

<p>Be very very careful when considering Dialdirect. I took out a policy with them last year. The process was seemless and I even posted a positive review on HP. They offered me a good price "based on my profile". During the past year I had one claim (R17500 damage to my car - I had to pay R7500 excess). Prior to this I have not had any claims in the past 5 years. Last week I get a letter, a generic one trying to make light of the fact that everything changes and then mentioning, as a side note that my premium would increase. WELL THE INCREASE WAS 38.7%. I have spoken to Ms Swart (Retentions Manager) as well as Mr Meyer (Retentions Specialist). Neither was able to tell me what resulted in this astronomical increase. Meyer even went as far as stating that he is not allowed to tell me what lead to my increase as this is "priveleged information" and "trade secrets".</p> <p> </p> <p>All I want to know is how the figure of 38.7% increased. Meyer acknowledged that this was very high and that he can understand that I was upset. They tried to give generic answers such as the Rand/$ rate, cost of labour etc, but the fact is that my other insurers on my other vehicle face the same economic conditions and this did not lead to an almost 40% increase.</p> <p> </p> <p>From similar complaints I have no other option but to realise that this is the business model of Dialdirect: Get them in cheap and then hike the premiums. Madness. Well, luckily not for me. I am going back to proper insurance, like I had before DD. I have notified DD to stop my cover from 1 October 2016.</p> <p> </p> <p>They have indicated that there is nothing further they can do. So this review is not aimed at getting them to change their decision, this review is to warn others: DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP.</p>
