Frustration Over Early Debit Orders Despite Clear Instructions

I’ve been a loyal Dialdirect customer for many years, with multiple policies under my name, including insurance for three vehicles and my home. Throughout this time, I’ve never missed a single premium payment. Despite clearly requesting that my debit order be processed on the 20th of each month, Dialdirect continues to debit my account on the 19th. I’ve contacted them several times to address this issue, yet nothing has changed. Today was the final straw: on 17 October, they debited R4,600 from my account, three days before payday. It’s unreasonable to expect clients to have that kind of money readily available in their transactional accounts so far in advance. To make matters worse, the funds in my account were specifically set aside for travel to attend a close friend’s funeral. The repeated inconvenience caused by Dialdirect’s premature debits especially when the 20th doesn’t fall on a weekend or public holiday is unacceptable. I’m now seriously considering switching to an insurance provider that truly values long-standing clients who consistently meet their premium obligations.

Furthermore, I must emphasize that I do not wish to be contacted with requests for a PDF bank statement. As a Financial Services Provider, Dialdirect should be fully aware that bank statements are typically generated at the end of the month, mine currently only go up to the end of September. This makes your request both impractical and the fact that I am now the one going through all this trouble over a mess generated by you it is really unfair. What I need now is an immediate and practical solution that allows me to access the funds debited prematurely so I can attend the funeral of a close friend. I urge your team to treat this with the urgency and empathy it deserves.
