Extended warranty *****
I have a car insurance that I took with Dialdirect last year. This year Jan, they called me, offering the extended warranty. I said no, since I still have OEM warranty until Sept/Oct this year. The caller managed to convince me to take it in Jan. I agreed and was given the premium that I had to pay, (given)during the call. When the policy documents arrived, the premium indicated there was more than what I agreed upon during the call. I then cancelled the policy immediately, as it was obvious that they were not truthful in their dealings. In May, I got another call from a different Dialdirect agent. This time, I accepted the extended warranty policy. Last week Wed, I called Dialdirect to lodge a claim as there was noise coming from the front wheels. OEM dealers where I've taken the car for check, said that it was the wheel bearing that needed change. They couldn't change it since the OEM warranty on wheel bearing is only valid for 18 or 36 months. So, when I called Dialdirect last week to lodge a claim, everything went well and I was told to take my car to EOM dealer and the dealer must call them to arrange fixing. My car was at the dealer yesterday (Mon 19 Aug) but when the dealer called Dialdirect, they were told that my policy start date is only after the OEM warranty expires. I was therefore angry because: 1. The person I spoke to last week didn't say anything about effective date of my policy and therefore wasted many people's time by me taking the car to the dealer. 2. Why was I sold the policy that I was not going to use/benefit on, for at least 6 months. Is that how Dialdirect **********ly get money from the public? 3. I checked and compared the two policy documents that I received. The Jan policy say that cover starts 30 days after first premium is received. The May policy states that cover starts after OEM warranty expires (of which is different to what I was told on the phone call). Why would a same type of cover/policy have different start/effective dates? Is this also another type of scheme that Dialdirect de***** thepublic?
