Does insurance companies perceive their clients to be *****s?

Good Evening

Does a law abiding client of an insurance company have no dignity in our country?

My fridge stopped working on the 30 December 2016, and I reported t via the website of my insurance which is supposed to be a super-fast response. I reported it and only received my first call after I had someone come out and looked at the fridge which broke at an odd time.

I had the guy send them a report as requested by them on 3 January 2017. I got the report and send it in. Only after enquiring about my claim I was informed that my claim was rejected. At the same time, I asked the consultant to send out someone from the insurance’s trusted list to come and have a look to find out how a fridge of 5 years old could have a wear and tear issue which could have led to the sudden deterioration of this fairly new fridge in my mind.

The consultant told me that he could not send someone out because the system already rejected my claim and there is nothing he could do from his side. I need to initiate the second opinion from my side and have another report sent to them. I don’t know why we are bamboozled by our banking institutions to have short term insurance if they cannot help when you need their help.

I did as I was told and had to pay another person from the internet like I did the first time to come and have a look because my insurance did not trust my judgment nor did they do so with the second opinion.

If I did not write them a letter on 11 January 2017 requesting them to reply to me in writing I would not have received a call from them by the afternoon requesting to have someone send to my house to come and have a look to confirm what the second technician reported on. After I dropped the phone I came to the realisation that my insurer wants to take my money every month but they don’t trust me. I can understand there are a lot of people committing insurance ***** in our country, but is this a reason to punish all your clients or are they all just a bunch of legal ******s? I gave them an opportunity to send someone out to come and have a look after their delay and I understand that it was not a good time when the fridge broke, but I believe this could have turned out so different.

Someone needs to tell me why I need to go another weekend without a fridge forcing me to buy food every day which I have to finish every day because it would be bad for consumption the following day and school just started this week.

How is it possible in this day and age to have short term insurance, because the financial institutions requires you to have it in a financial climate not conducive for the affordability of this type of insurance, and when you need them to be available to you they are unavailable and treat you like you are wanting to ***** from them!

Have I waited too long? After not being able to host anyone over the festive period due to my problem and being able to have something cold or keep left over food for my children.

The emails written to my insurer reads as follows

Ian ********** />Jan 12 (1 day ago)

to claims

Good morning

It is with great sadness that I am writing to you with the regard to this issue. I don't feel that I should have had to go as far.

I want the reader of this email to put him or herself in my shoes and kindly if you can, find it in your heart to tell me if I am wrong to be having to write to you regarding this matter.

We all have our specialties in life and therefore we sometimes get people spacialising in fields outside ours or our comprehension to do things for us, at a price mostly, but have you ever been at a point where you had to get someone else to fix something that the first person had gotten wrong after taking your money and you had to pay double for the something.

My question, emanating from the above to you is this “do you perceive all your clients to be hiding something or to be ********* when they approach you when they want to claim from you?” If your answer is no why is it that you believe someone other than your client when it boils down to this?

I have put my claim in at the end of December 2016 and after the first refrigeration so called technician did not satisfy you with his explanation of how the fridge gave in you had to punish me, by rejecting my claim, your client? Kindly explain this to me? Unless you are thinking that I want to swindle money from your company a company I feel I am a part of? Or am I?

After speaking to one of your consultants called Luke and another who’s name I cannot recall but you would be able to find his name cause you record all your telephone calls. I have requested from the other consultant to get me in touch with his superior and he told me that someone would get in touch and afterward told me there is no one available. Kindly explain this?

I decided to get another opinion from another refrigeration technician and hopefully he will be able to satisfy you with some information that could be of worth. I have send that through last night. Kindly let me know if you received it.

What I am battling to comprehend is the fact that a refrigerator of this quality could just deteriorate and whereof like the other consultant explained. How do I a man with no knowledge and a fridge with no maintenance procedure maintain a fridge that is not giving problems?

The school has now started and I cannot keep fresh milk in my house because whatever I open we must finish, I cannot keep food overnight for my kids to take to school.

Kindly restore my faith in your company and in insurance companies in general.

Kind regards

Ian Boer

********** 421

PS Kindly reply in writing

Ian ********** />Jan 12 (1 day ago)

to claims

Good afternoon

I trust this email finds the reader well.

I want to thank you for the call I received this afternoon, however no written response as requested.

Does it take an email to get a reaction or response from my insurance? In my email earlier I spoke about trust and how I perceive my insurance to have handled me during my claim and my time of need.

I have questioned the importance of short term insurance on many occasions and no one can give me a good reason why we should have short term insurance, because everyone has had some bad experience with insurance companies not coming to the party in times of need. I only have insurance because it is expected by the banking sector and you, my insurer are well on the way to proving that I am throwing money away .

Is there no insurance company that still trusts their clients? Is this the reason so many people opt to not have short term insurance in South Africa?

Kindly tell me why another person has to come and assess my fridge again? This after I requested this from the consultant who dealt with me after my dealing s with Luke. I specifically requested him to send out someone to give you reassurance in the first person’s findings and satisfy you with the fact that he had no tact and also lacked some knowledge on his trade. If he had done so my family would have had a new fridge and I would not have had to be writing this email to you. His word to me was that I needed to initiate this process. And if you would perceive me to be making up a story kindly listen to the conversation we had because I know you keep these recordings in case a matter should end up in a court or some sort of formal intervention.

Kindly tell me how you will mend the trust that I should be having in my short term insurance company after all you are putting me and my family through. I really hope that this string of emails and pleads would end up on someone’s desk that has the ability to make a decision and not someone that wants to apologies for what I am being put through.

I ask again, kindly restore my hope in short term insurance.

Regards

Ian Boer

********** 421

PS “In the end, reconciliation is a spiritual process, which requires more than just a legal framework. It has to happen in the hearts and minds of people” Tata Madiba 1994.

Kindly tell me how this can be remedied.
