I had a household contents policy with Dial Direct. I paid my premiums every month without any claims.

Recently I had my first claim for an Ipod Nano, which I misplaced. The agent told me she will get back to me by the 5 Feb, which she didn't. I was not requested to provide any paperwork. I keep requesting for them to go listen to the call but they just ignore that I am saying that.

The next thing, on the 8th, I get an sms to urgently supply documentation, including a police report. Yes thats right, I am required to go tell the police I lost my Ipod!!!

I would understand if it was ******, or if the item was expensive, but this is for an inexpensive ipod nano, which they don't even make anymore!

I guess the idea here is to make the process so complicated for a small item that you just would withdraw the claim. Am I now expected to run around just to get a claim through for a small item? And on top of that pay an R800 excess!!!!!

Now if this is what is required for a misplaced iPod, imagine if I had a bigger claim. I would much rather pay a higher premium at another more reputable insurance and not get hassles when I need to claim. DO NOT GO DIAL DIRECT !!!!!
