DialDirect does not understand the risks of a ****** key

After having to fight off a burglar inside my own, getting pepper-sprayed (same happened to my father!), and being left ****** and needing five stitches, the burglar still managed to get away but unfortunately, he still managed to ***** my car keys. This was on the 16th January.

I immediately contacted the dealership, got a quote for replacing the lockset (it's keyless with a backup key) and submitted my claim the next day. It took them two weeks to reply and they only chose to provide cover for 60% of the quote from the dealership. (And the 60% includes my R5000 excess! So I only got paid out 40% of the quote!!!)

I subsequently complained (on 29th Jan) and explicitly told them the cover was not enough to get the locks changed. And there is still a ****** running around my hometime with my car keys! Given that highjacking and car break-ins are already common, a ****** having my car keys almost makes one of those things happening a cer*****y!!! Including putting my own life at additional ris****

I am still to receive a response from DialDirect. The locks are still not changed. I am still 40% short to do it.

Clearly DialDirect does not the risks involved of a ****** key. Skimp on a small amount for this claim while significantly increasing the risk of a claim due to highjacking/vehicle break-in.

And likewise the increased risk to my own life!!!

As discussed telephonically, it is noted that the matter was referred to the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance and will be finalised via their office.
