My son had an accident with his dad's car, but because the car is a golf mk1 they said the car was my son's (initially bought for him but never gave to him cause he lost his job). They went as far as to ask my neighbors. The assessor told the neighbors that my son owns the car and that he wants to confirm that he is the regular driver. Which is not true. They declined both our claim and the other person's vehicle repair claim. We wrote a letter to dispute their original outcome and then they offered to settle. Still claiming that my son is the owner and regular driver. The vehicle is registered in my husband's name and I am still the regular driver. They claimed that the vehicle was written off as it was too expensive to fix. They offered us only R 18 000 settlement, less excess and a penalty fee of just over 34%. We asked them what do they want for the car. And boy they got back to us with a buy back offer of R 24 000 for the vehicle. So if we buy back the vehicle then we must pay Dial Direct just over R 10 000. The repairs to the golf will cost us R 15 000 (which according to them is too much) The people where the vehicle was stored and assessed, phoned my husband the very same day the insurance company wrote off the car, to put in an offer to buy the car. The car is still in a good condition. They don't want to pay us out the proper amount which is R 36 700 less the 2 excesses amounting to just over R 8 500. Their buy back amount is high cause they want to repair the car and flip it for a profit. The current selling price of a Golf MK1 is retailing for R 60 000. My advise to any one that is looking for insurance......please DO NOT go with this company or any company affiliated with The Telesure Group. They are a load of bull****ters and *****. I am taking this case to the Ombudsman for further investigation together with sworn affidavits from my community and from my church to prove to them that I am the regular driver. We have been with this company since 2012 with a no claim history. Payments to them totally almost R 190 000. This is our first claim and this is how they treat us. The assessor treated us like ********* and even the other party, who is a client of Auto and General (same affiliation to The Telesure Group), was also treated like a ********. Is it because we are coloured people, that you treated us like this. The assessor even had the audacity to ask me how my husband gets to work. The nerve of this man. I told him that my husband has a company car. Was the assessor jealous that my husband has 3 vehicles? Thank goodness he didn't see the 2 trailers and all our catering and music equipment.
