Dial Direct - My Worst Experience Ever!

Six weeks ago a young lady turned into my lane and drove head on into me just a few blocks from my house. After assessing the damage and trying to get the details of the offending driver, I took some photos of the scene, started up my car and drove the short distance home. The car felt rather sluggish, but I expected that, having just been in an accident.

After speaking with the people at Dial Direct I was informed that I should take the car to the assessment centre. On the way there I found that the vehicle really battlled to drive up any kind of incline. Around 40km per hour was top speed. At the assessment centre, I menitoned this and said that I would not be able to drive the car home due to its current condition. So they kept it there.

As the days and weeks passed the whole process turned out to be painfully slow with me having to follow up on a regular basis to find out what was going on. I enquired as to when I would get my car back as well as to guaratees that it would be back in the same condition as before the accident. I was concerned about this and when I spoke with the repairers they ensured me that the quote they gave the insurance company included everything and that the car would be back in perfect condition.

Fast forward to yesterday - I was told I could collect the vehicle which was in the repair shop in Lenasia (costing me R450 in taxi fees). I get there to see the body of the vehicle had been repaired, however, the windscreen had a huge crack in it that was not there before. I then go for a test drive and find that nothing has been done to fix the driving performance. I could not drive the car home and so had to leave it there.

Now I am without a car and I have some assessor phoning me telling me that it is my faut that the car is not driving properly. According to him, the accident had nothing to do with this - somehow in some magical way - my car decided to stop driving properly regardless of the head on collision that occurred.

Any insurance company has the ideal opportunity to show its colours when a client puts in a claim. This for some of us is a rare experience - I have claimed from insurance maybe three times in my lifetime. If this is how Dial Direct treat their clients then I'm gone. Really, really poor performance and completely unprofessional. This from me, a person who never complains about anything, anywhere, ever!
