Dial Direcct's irritating mobile app

I have gripes about the farcical Dial Direct mobile app and the way it determines driver behaviour, rewards and penalties. I'm retired and normally have low mileage and my car stands idle for days on end. A non-driving day earns me a reward of R1.53 (Wow!) Yesterday, I made three trips and drove for a total of 240km in the Western Cape. The app rated each trip at 5 stars. Driving time was about 3 hours. The total reward was R2.45 (92 cents more than a non-driving day). The 92 cents equates to a reward of about 31 cents for each hour of driving. (Yippee!) To put that into context, I rewarded a shopping mall car guard R10. The app also irritates me with the way it deducts two of the five stars for what it regards to be poor driving techniques. It often penalises me for sharp acceleration when moving away from my home gate. It goes into a strop when it records that I accelerated from 3 km/h to 19 km/h in 1 second. Short of getting out of the car to push it, I can't accelerate at a lower rate in a 2.8 litre car with an automatic gearbox. Some time ago, I contacted Customer Services to complain about the quirky app. The response of the agent I spoke to. . . "That is the way the app was designed." Hallelujah! At least we are on the same page.
