Conflicting information - cancellation of policy
I cancelled my policy with Dialdirect on 22 January 2016. I also had a top up on this policy, which I also cancelled. At the end of January my main policy did not go off my bank account, but the top up did. When I phoned them, I was told that the main policy was payment in advance while the top up was payment in arrears. I have no way of verifying this information.

When I enquired why I was charged for the full month of January, I was told that \The insurance is month-to-month cover and, if the full premium for January was deducted, we provide cover for the full month of January. Your cover would have been valid until 31/01/2016\". I then checked my cancellation letter which stated \"Cover under this policy will lapse at midnight on 22 January 2016\". I was then told that the cancellation letter is system generated, and automatically records the date of the cancellation request.

My next questions are:
Is the \"system generated\" letter sent out to prevent people from claiming in this period?
Which of this two sets of information would have been valid if I put in a claim in the 9 days between 23 and 31 January - but we all know the answer to that...
