Comprehensive cover will still leave you stranded on the side of the road (watchout they have limits they can't explain)

On early hours of Sunday Morning 2AM to be exact my car was broken into leaving the car non drivable as my drivers lock was taken out and the boot lock damaged. Dialdirect was quick to send someone to tow the car however I was left stranded. HOW?

I asked to get assistance to get home, firstly I was told the tow truck driver would drop me off, then I was told his car is too small for 4 people and that he is not going in my direction and then eventually I was told they would be sending a car to assist me to get home with the other 2 people I was with.

This was a lie, I was then told I would need to pay R1050 to get a car to get me home mind you i was not more than 80KM away from home surely it shouldn't be an issue to make sure 3 females are not alone and stranded where they are.

Daildirect did not care, to the point where even the manager was telling me I would need to then pay half of the R1050 or find my own way home. HOW??? like if I was in a major accident it means I would be left on the side of the street? yes I would because having comprehensive cover with them DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING!!! I even noted how other insurance companies have a limit of "if you are over 100km away from home they won't be able to assist you to get you home", Manager on the phone even went on to say there is no such thing as within a 100km at Daildirect if I was in Capetown I would have been provided accommodation? that also doesn't make sense to me accommodation in a different province costs way more then giving me a ride home within the province i reside in?

in short Daildirect didn't mind leaving me on the side of the street over a R1050 bill they should have settled and not told me about paying also, they noted something silly like um there is a limit to the comprehensive insurance when I kept asking what this limit is I never got an answer.

so if you are looking for an insurer who will get your car off of the side of the road in a heart beat they win but just know they will leave you there :-)

Reviewer Update
Just an update for anyone who may be like myself (stupid enough to pick Dialdirect as an insurance)

1. Comprehensive cover doesn’t mean everything is covered these guys have exclusions on simple ABC stuff that any other insurance provider would provide. Eg when stuff gets ****** from your car you’ll need additional cover to cover those things it’s not included in the so called comprehensive cover.

2. You are not going to get roadside assistance, your car will, but not you. it’s not included in the comprehensive cover you pay for.

3. They are very quick to settle because they fail at providing a decent quality service.

4. They always tell you about managers that never call. I think Zanele called me once I missed the call spoke to Jolene asking that Zanele call again and nothing!

Thanks for nothing Dialdirect.
