Cancellation of a [policy

Cancellation of Policy

Maybe all short term insurance companies do it, but Dialdirect tries to make it difficult for one to cancel a current policy and they waste your time and airtime.

Whenever you have a normal enquiry, change of policy or claim, it is achingly how painstakingly they go through the policy detail in order to make the necessary changes - one might try and forgive them for that.

Try and cancel the policy and you would think it is as easy as giving the policy number/your id number and let them ask you the normal security questions in order to identify you, but no, it does not stop there; they do not accept your request at that stage to cancel the policy. Why not? They have your information and should just carry out your request.

I tried it during Jan 2022 by phoning and when I said I am phoning in connection iwth a policy that I want to ancel, I was told that the call will be transferred and after holding on for quite a while, I ended the call and tried again. The next time ended the call after all the security questions was asked by saying: "Please go ahead and cancel the policy, you have all the info you need, and if you don't deal with this issue, give it through to the correct person, I am not holding on indefinitely so that you can put my call through to someone else. I followed this up with 2 e mails referring to these telephonic calls, asking them to cancel the policy and I received no response.

I was then forced to call again and was told that they have my calls and e mails on record but I don't go through the whole process (after identification and security questions been answered) they will not cancel the policy and the enxt debit order will go off as usual untill I phone and go through the whole process.

Why? So that they could talk me through all the detail on the policy. For what? Wanting to know why I am cancelling - nothing to do with them, and of course, the marketing pitch of how I am going to loose out on the non claim bonus which is due some time in the future.

All this to try and discourage you from cancelling, instead of just identifying the customer, asking the security questions and abiding with his request to cancel. If you don't go through this whole long process, you are stuck; you cannot cancel the policy.

The audacity at the end to tell me what a good customer I am and they would like to be of service for me in the future.

This bullyig and waste of a client's time and money is unacceptable!
