70% Hike in Insurance premium

shopping around for insurance for my new car in 2014, Dial direct topped the scales with a premium of R500 (R2800 Excess). In Jan 2015, it increased to R604, which I thought was fair. Now in 2016, the new premium is R1009pm. This is almost a 70% increase. According to Etiaane the company does not work with percentages but rather the risk profile of the car. I summarised, asking how was it possible that the risk profile of my car could change so drastically in a year. No statistics or explanation was given. I feel that this hike is unfair. I think that it is wrong for Dial Direct to charge clients a low initial amount, just to acquire a new contract or get clients, misleading them into thinking that this is as much as they are going to pay. it is wrong to then pounce on them with high increases and expect the clients just to pay, without a squeal, as they know clients wont want to lose their Bucks back bonus. I also think that this is a ploy to keep premiums low in the first few years to keep down the back bucks payout. why not give accurate estimates to prospective clients rather that alluring them with low premiums so much so that they don't even look at other competitors
