On Sunday 26 May, the branch manager of Dial-a-bed Sunningdale / Parklands assisted me with the purchase of a Simmons bed set. He offered a 'free base' and free delivery deal, but neglected to mention that the base will not be Simmons but a different brand. To me the SEA line description on the invoice didn't mean anything until a Simmons mattress was delivered with a SEALY base. I requested a refund for the following reasons: 1. The branch manager unfairly put the blame on the warehouse for delivering the 'wrong' base (not true since the Sealy base was booked out at the point of sale – I confirmed the line description on the invoice with another branch and Simmons). 2. He promised to contact me the next morning to confirm delivery of the ‘correct’ base, but didn’t. I left 3 messages for him as he was 'out' but when I phoned from my landline (different number) he answered the call immediately (deliberate screening of calls). 3. It would have taken a week for the Simmons base to be ordered and delivered as they do not have stock of it available at the warehouse. Little did I know that it will take the same amount of time (a week) before the bed set will be collected and before the refund can be processed. I requested the refund on Thursday, 30 May, and the bed set was finally collected on 5 June (was due to be collected on 4 June but they never showed up). Now it is a waiting game to see how long it will take to get my money back. I have emailed the branch manager twice in this regard, with no response. Horrible service and shady deals, potential customers please think twice before supporting this store and specifically the Sunningdale (Cape Town) branch.
Best regards,
