Very slow service - Late donation roll out

I own and run a Durban based amateur ice hockey club and secured a very large donation of kit and equipment from some kind donors in Florida USA. The 8 large packages have cost a total of ($1666)R22,000 + to ship here, nothing cheap to say the least... Airway bill: ********** 245.

The packages were meant to arrive before this Sunday the 23rd July as one of the donors has flown out to South Africa to do the official hand over. Well..... The packages have been sitting with DHL customs since last week Friday the 14th July. Every day I email DHL/customs only to get a short response with little to no progress being made each day.. Totally inefficient in my opinion.

I emailed both DHL yesterday asking multiple questions and making them aware of the urgency of the package but have not had a response since.

The cherry on top of all of this is DHL and customs don't have to answer to anyone and have very close to ruined this handover of equipment and a lot of peoples effort and money.

Two weeks ago I had another large shipment from USA, the same items but were shipped with FEDEX, WOW what a great shipper! The packages arrived without any delay at lightning speed and no customs delays or charges...

DHL/customs has been hanging onto all of this donated kit for a week... What on earth for????? FedEx sent it straight through, DHL has officially ensured I will never use their service again.

DHL may very well blame customs or another importing department but at the end of the day DHL is responsible and should make efforts to prevent this happening to clients going forward.

Not impressed one bit and still have no clue when the packages will arrive.
