Thievery! Purchased items worth R2,671.45 and paid R3,480.83 to DHL total!
Guys, please avoid using DHL at all costs.! If you shop from anywhere [in the world] online; DO NOT USE DHL! I purchased items worth R2 671.45. I paid shipping that amounted to R1, 559.29. Since the shipping was so high, I thought (like it was with my previous purchase [of similar items] using FedEx shipping) this amount included most of the customs clearance taxes and their commissions. However, when my items arrived in South Africa - They sent me another bill to pay a whopping R1,841.75! WOW! I felt [obviously] forced to pay up in order for them to deliver my items. I paid and then later complained about it for a recalculation because as you would imagine; I was 100% convinced that there was a mistake. Nope! The lady says that was correct... Imagine. SO BEWARE... IF YOU PURCHASE CLOTHING ITEMS WORTH R2,671.45, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A TOTAL OF R3,480.83 to DHL. WOW... ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. BE WARNED GUYS... STAY AWAY FROM DHL. USE FEDEX, OR USPS. EVEN UPS IS BETTER BECAUSE YOU COULD OPT FOR THE OPTION TO PAY AN ESTIMATE OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE. I now inform all my friends, family, and suppliers on Amazon, Alibaba, Aliexpress, eBay, LightInTheBox, Shein and all other smaller companies to not use DHL. I think DHL 'secretly' wants to get out of business by ripping people off like this. Let's help them!

In as much as we endeavour for positive Customer experience’s , we do not control the Customs clearance process. This process is controlled and regulated by government officials in each country .
DHL is obligated to comply with the SARS / Customs Act . All Shipments are cleared in accordance with this Act .

12 Dec 2021, 13:32Well, it's interesting that when I use FedEx, USPS and UPS for similar items that amount to similar amounts, I paid LESS THAN HALF for the shipping including customs clearance! This is not my first time purchasing clothing items from international sites you idiots... But never, ever has the shipping and customs clearance nearly doubled the the item's total. It's not like this was overnight shipment or that your customer service was better than others, in fact yours was below mediocre in comparison to others! So this simply means that - SARS aside - DHL SHIPPING FEES ARE JUST DARN HIGH... I MUST INFORM THE WORLD.

Whilst we have noted your comments , I am sure you can understand that DHL Express and the other courier companies noted are all separate companies which are not legally linked to each other and are standalone legal entities. Thus the actions of one company cannot be linked to one of anouther .
In saying that , please note that the Customs charges billed can be verified at your nearest SAR office – When we clear shipments , in compliance with SARS / Customs guidelines, we are obligated by Law to issue out Customs paperwork . ( Customs worksheet ,SAD500 etc ), which should have been issued to you upon Customs payment .
Please advise if you would like to us to forward you your Customs paperwork for this shipment , and we will gladly do so ?
Please feel free to visit any SARS/ Customs office to verify the Customs tax imposed on this shipment , along with the paperwork for confirmation.
We assure you , DHL works in the best interest of our clients and in compliance with government regulations in each country

DHL charged R1,559.29 [7 working days delivery promise] and FedEx charged R220 [10 working days delivery promise - I received it within 7 days]! That is a huge difference in Shipping already... Not SARS because what I paid SARS through DHL was similar to what I also paid SARS through FedEx. So even though I am not a fan of SARS myself... Don't use SARS AS A SCAPEGOAT HERE... I AM TALKING ABOUT THE 'SHIPPING CHARGE', NOT CUSTOMS CLEARANCE AND TAXES DAMN IT! The only difference was that DHL promised to deliver in 7 working days and FedEx promised to deliver within 10 working days. However, FedEx actually DID DELIVER WITHIN 7 Days - FOR R1339.29 LESS THAN WHAT DHL CHARGED. SHAME ON YOU DHL! SHANE ON YOU FOR RIPPING PEOPLE OFF LIKE THIS! MXM.

I honestly thought that customs and clearance was included in that high shipping charge like when I use Amazon USPS or UPS. From my past experiences, when you pay a high shipping charge like that, it usually includes the customs clearance and taxes to SARS. That is why I checked out. But then you still charged another customs clearance! Mxm. *******!
