RIDICULOUS FEES
I have received a package via DHL on 30 June 2020 and didn’t have to pay anything and now I just received an email and text to pay R1537.20 to release my new package. Tracking No.: ****852913. How are you expecting me to pay for this if I didn’t pay just a week ago for a package that was even more expensive than this??? They expect me to pay over 50% of retail value of my package, how are you charging me now but didn’t charge me last week? This is a huge ****!

The calculation of Duties and Taxes depends on the value and commodity code of your shipment. So whatever value is declared on your supporting invoice that is what customs duty/tax is calculated on.
