Package dumped with SA Post Office after one unsuccessful delivery attempt

Good day DHL

I ordered a package from Germany on 25th July. The package arrived in South Africa on Monday 1st August. According to the shipment tracking there was an unsuccessful delivery attempt at my address. After following up yesterday via the dhl.de website, I was informed via email that the package has been handed to the SA Postal Service for delivery.

Now, what is the point of paying +-40 Euros to a courier company that palms off a package to the Post Office after one unsuccessful delivery attempt? I don't think I am ever going to see that parcel as I do not have any faith in the Post Office. At the reported attempt time, we were here at the delivery address, ready to receive the package. Nobody attempted to contact me via phone or email.

I think this is completely unacceptable. I require that the parcel is fetched from the post office and delivered to my door before close of business Monday. I would also strongly advise implementing a better customer communication system, keeping people informed of estimated delivery time and also equipping your drivers with cell phones so that they can contact recipients if there are any issues at the destination.

Please contact me for the shipping details so that my package can be located and delivered correctly. Alternatively, please tell me where to go and I will fetch it myself.

Dear Vaughan,

Thank you for your post.

This shipment was moving as part of the services offered from Germany called DHL Paket, under the DHL Deutsche Post Banner. Whilst we all operate under the DHL banner, we are different entities doing different functions, all operating separately with our own procedures and areas of excellence.

We have DHL Express, whereby we specialize in Express consignments. Our service includes Track & Trace and Door-to-Door service. DHL Paket, is consignments that will be handed to Postal Authorities with no tracking available on the DHL Express Network, as these travel as regular post. You can track it on this website http://globaltracktrace.ptc.post/gtt.web/ using your tracking number EE ********** 95DE or contact them via email ********** or by Phone: ***for any queries.
