No Communication For Courier Deliveries
In June 2015 we ordered two bank cards from our offs**** bank. Their policy is to send each card in a separate delivery. The DHL AWB numbers were *** and ***. By pure coincidence my wife happened to be at the right place at the right time when one dellvery ***) was made. DHL did not contact the recipient to arrange this delivery either by phone or e-mail. We then obtained the second reference number but in follow ups we determined by that time the document was delivered to Pretoria and then eventually back to Sandton for return to offs**** bank.
We were then out of the country for three weeks and on return we reinstated the second delivery. A new document with reference *** was despatched. We never received any notification until we checked with the bank they told us that there was another attempt by DHL to deliver on 31 July. On phoning DHL today the document is on hold in Sandton. I was eventually told that I have to collect the document at Peter Place in Sandton myself.
It is quite outrageous that a courier company, whose core business it is to deliver, cannot make arrangements with recipients to deliver documents either by a call, sms or email.
