Lost Item and DHL refuses to admit it!!

On 29 Sept I ordered some electronic devices for my business from a supplier China. All duties were paid to DHL. The supplier shipped the items (2 items) out using DHL. On the 4th October only 1 piece was received. After many phone calls, it took DHL over a week to agree that only 1 piece was delivered. I then followed process and logged a query for a search for the missing item to be carried. This was done on the 10th October. DHL was unable to figure out if the item was in SA or Honk Kong. The bright guys at DHL asked me for pictures of the missing box that i had never seen. I also sent them description and dimensions of the box. This search has been going on for a month now. I have been through many consultants who keep asking me the same questions as it seems like the consultants don't work for the same company as they have no idea fo the history of my case. All I need to know is, if the item is lost can I have my duties back and can the supplier log a claim for the device. DHL processes and "highly competent" consultants is causing major impact to my business. I have also tried to speak to a senior person but have been left hanging on the line on too many occassions.

For the record , I have just launched a import business and I am utterly disappointed in DHLs service and capability. I will need to source an alternative logistics vendor for my business.
