Do Not Use DHL. Do Not Have Parcels Sent To South Africa.

My mother sent us a hand sewn quilt cover from the UK. This was a gift for our anniversary. The monetary value is insignificant, it is made from s****s of fabric. I have just received an SMS stating that a sum R2114.40 is required for customs & excise duty.

My mom was not made aware of any value to be paid by the recipient. She guessed a monetary value in good faith. I want this parcel sent back to her. The tracking number is ***.

Given the ANC's ongoing lockdown disaster, we are unable to pay this. The reason the SA Post Office wasn't used is because it is a steaming wreck, despite Cyril Ramaphosa being tasked to turn it around several years ago.

Let me make it clear that you DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF CONTEMPT I feel for both DHL and the so called 'government' of South Africa. We have truly reached the status of 'failed state' when practically every SOE requires regular bail outs.

DHL... Poor show on your part.
