DHL - Worst courier company

Waybill No ********** 205

I ordered a dress online from a .co.za domain on the order I was charged for shipping and handling total invoice R2,154,42.

Next I received a call from DHL that there was an international parcel for me and that I needed to pay duty and VAT. They prompltly send me a pro forma invoice for R872.41 on the 22 Feb 2017.

I paid the invoice on 28 Feb 2017 as per the advice from DHL expecting that this would resolve the issue at hand and that DHL being an international courier company should be a reliable in their business conduct.

This however is far from the truth.

On the 8th of March I sent DHL an invoice of the supplier and proof of payment as requested by them per email.

On the 10th of March I enquired about progress regarding the parcel. (e-mail)

On the 13th of March I enquired again about any progress via e-mail and I phoned where DHL rep**** that you would come back to me within 3 days.

On the 14th March DHL rep**** to one of my e-mails and said that you would contact me the following day regarding an outstanding balance regarding shipment.

On the 17th March I once again enquired regarding the parcel and still no reply.

On the 23rd of March almost a month after paying what was requested I now received a new Pro-Forma Invoice for R2,687.59 for some more duties and VAT a huge penalty and another R450 processing fee for DHL.

This is to say the least shocking service and gross misconduct by DHL why the additional R2,687.59

Did DHL not know what they were doing on the 22 Feb do they now know what they are doing as I may land up getting another Pr-Forma invoice after this.

This is shocking and I refuse to pay the penalties and additional DHL processing fee. If this was due to DHL dragging their feet they should foot the bill.

Dear Cora,

Thank you for writing to DHL Express .

I attempted to contact you , but your mobile rang unanswered with no option to leave a voice message.

I understand your frustration regarding the delayed delivery of your shipment, and I’d like to sincerely apologise for the undoubted inconvenience this has caused

I’ve investigated your case, and can see that your shipment was randomly stopped for a physical examination by a division of Customs called CBCU. This team is assigned to audit shipments to ensure that the correct Customs regulations are being followed.

Unfortunately upon audit of your shipment it was discovered that there was a discrepancy in the paperwork. The value declared on the Customs invoice was not the amount paid for the shipment, the amount was under declared.

This is a serious Customs violation, as the paperwork provided was untrue and incorrectly declared. As a result of this violation, Customs has now imposed penalty; for false under declaration and has added additional VAT and duty on the correct value of your shipment.

In as much as we endeavor for positive Customer experiences, the Customs clearance process is controlled and regulated by government officials in each country. DHL has no control over the process.

I assure you that we are doing everything that we can to ensure the release and delivery of your goods, however, the shipment is currently delayed in Customs and release will only be granted when the Customs penalty imposed has been paid.

I will attempted to contact you again on Monday to further assist you with this matter.

Kindest Regards,

Ms Buhle Sekoboane
