DHL unfair delivery

My experience with DHL, my surprised parcel was sent from Ghana paid DHL to be delivered to my address. After wanting for almost a month but never received it. I then contacted the sender and he gave me the tracking number. I did tracked it and it was showing I should contact dhl head office. Meaning if I did not contact the sender I would’ve known I should contact dhl. Now dhl claimed they contacted me but my phone was. Now the nature of my work doesn’t allow me to on my phone from 7am till 6pm. What I don’t understand why dhl should contact me on phone before my parcel should deliver to my address as per agreement of home delivery paid for? And why can’t dhl did not at least drop a small slip for me contact them or come to their office if they needed my attention before my parcel can be delivered than telling me my parcel has been sent to state warehouse and I must pay over 5k which way beyond even the cost of the parcel? DHL within 3 weeks my parcel which suppose to be delivered to my address has been sent to state ware house and I must pay for the cost. DHL I need my parcel and I am not going to pay the so called state charges.
