DHL still sucks!

I recently wrote a negative review on DHL after failing to find an item I ordered from B&H Photovideo in the US last month. Initially I could track the parcel through the Post Office South Africa web site. It arrived at the Jet Park sorting facility on 2/9/2024 at 21:06. No further information was to be found on the Track My International Parcel portal. On Track My Domestic Parcel it was seen to be dispatched from Jetpark at 1:19 on 3/9/2024. I phoned the Post Office helpline to find out where the item has been sent to, to be informed that I could collect it from the Lyttelton branch. I tried to collect it from them on Thursday the 5th. They could not find the parcel at the branch. I phoned Lyttelton on Friday but they still could not find the item. I was told that a bag had arrived from Jet Park the previous day and it would be opened before noon if I wanted to call them back. I contacted the Post Office help line yesterday in an attempt to speak to the people at Jet Park. Surely the bag that was dispatched to Lyttteton last Tuesday must have carried an identification number on it and I could then contact the Lyttelton branch to see if they had received it. The agent at Customer Services phoned Lyttleton and confirmed that the parcel was with them. She event managed to tell me on which shelf it was. Back to Lyttelton branch and again they failed to find the parcel until I told them where to look for it. The item did not show up on the Post Office website because it was not scanned when it arrived at the branch as they "were behind with the scanning" process. This was 6 days after the item arrived from the sorting facility. I must admit that everybody I dealt with at South African postal services were super friendly and went out of their way to be of assistance. I think they are just totally overworked considering that many Post Office employees has been laid off recently. Not so at DHL. Their responses ranged from indifferent to rude. Mostly indifference. I think they can send their staff to the Post Office to get training on how to handle customers! When I sent DHL email requesting assistance with tracking the item, I got the following response from Itumeleng Shale: "The parcel will be going to the [post office as per below from their website" - whatever that may mean. I had to spend hours on the phone with the postal customer services to locate the item and DHL just kept on passing the buck. They chose a business partner, and I hold them responsible for any inefficiencies displayed by their associate. It should not become the customer's problem. I final piece of advice: when ordering items from overseas please do not use the DHL budget option. Rather pay more and have it delivered through their express service. Or consider using a different courier company.
