DHL - many notifications but little movement

Shocking service. I received many notifications but my parcel has still not been cleared. I was asked to verify my ID several times and despite receiving details on customs payment only received the payment link once I phoned the call center AND sent a reminder via email. Eventually received the payment link and it was R500 more than originally quoted. Why???? I would never choose to get a parcel via DHL however I am stuck as the product I ordered from Australia decided to use them.
