DHL keeps no promises

I bought an accordion from overseas as a New year gift for my in-laws. I chose and paid extra for it to be couriered on time. Early on 27th December 2018 I received a text saying my parcel will be delivered before the end of the day. Boom 2 hrs later I received a message saying that there was an attempt to deliver it however no one was at home, which was a lie of course. This ****es me off as I took time off work to receive it. I have 4 nephews who are visiting and my daughter as well at home. When I called they promised to deliver before the of day. Yesterday I made a follow-up I called in 5 times the process was the same. I'll call, put on hold for close to 20 minutes and then I'll end up dropping because no one will be on the other side anymore. Some promised to call me back which obviously never happened. Each time I'm given different info, at some point some coloured guy said my parcel was at the airport. I really don't know what going on with DHL, "we keep our promises". I need answers I'm not getting any. What kind of service is this from an international company?
