DHL hopeless service

I wanted to get an urgent parcel to my gardeners sick mother, who lives in Nkhandwe Village, Lilongwe Malawi. I went to my local Postnet to enquire how long it'll take for this parcel to arrive. They phoned DHL Express who said it will take 2 days. It cost me R1700 and it has now been 5 days and the parcel has still not been delivered. On the DHL website it looks as if the parcel is stuck in Lilongwe. I could have spent half the money and sent it with a local Malawian travelling to his home country by road. What makes me very angry is that first of all, DHL SA created an expectation which wasn't met and secondly, Avery from the DHL call centre in Isando promised to call me back, but never did. I will NEVER use DHL again. Don't create expectations that cant be met and charge people a fortune for a service never delivered.
