DHL charging me for fun
I bought a item on AliExpress as I always do, I used DHL to get a fast shipment that was suppose to be about 7 days max shipping that costs R1500 , only to be contacted a whole 3 weeks later by DHL to be told that it’s under inspection at customs and will be updated on process, 2 weeks later I get invoice from DHL saying that I must pay Vat and duties, which is R148 but...pay a processing fee of R1450 to DHL because the supplier had put my items value at 3$. Do I have control over this no, did I ship the same small R800 item no, I just ordered it online, yet I’m being told I must pay penalty fees and handling fees for a small Chinese item, if You are running a shipping business you should make sure you’re company on the other end have done checks and that your customers don’t get asked for penalty costs and that you organize your shipments accordingly, I am not going to pay for that, further more I don’t even have the money to pay for it, it is disgusting that DHL does this to its customers never have I experienced such with Fedex or UPS(way better options) What you are doing is ******* against the national consumer act and I can take this matter up further with a small claims court for this inconvenience and ransom of items and rather make DHL pay penalty fees to me for there unprofessionalism.

Kindly be advised that your shipment was stopped for inspection and it was found to be undervalued. A penalty had been issued by customs for the incorrect declaration. Please note that it is the customers responsibility to ensure that the information provided to DHL is true and correct and your shipper signed the invoice confirming that the information was correct. Please take note of the below:
DHL is obligated to move all uncleared goods to the government state warehouse , the government state warehouse will impose a penalty of R5000.00 for late clearance as well as R10.00 per day for storage fees , this will be for your account.
The Customs and Excise Act :Section 38
- states that the Importer is liable of all goods received into the Country. - states that due clearance must be made through Customs for any Imported goods.Section 41
- states the invoice particulars must be true and correct. This is on the onus on the Importer to ensure that the Shipper provides the correct invoice/documents.
