DHL

DHL – bad service

Our dismal story with DHL starts on Thusday 20 April 2017, when we sent a parcel through PostNet Hibiscus Mall Margate.

There were 3 African Potato cream tubs weighing 125 ml bubble-wrapped thoroughly by PostNet, and was charged R300, (insured for R360). We were advised that it would take approx 5 days, because of the weekend, to arrive in Dubai.

This unfortunately did not happen. Our parcel ended up in Bloemfontein on 26th April as per email from DHL Durban, Marissa Hann. My son-in-law in Dubai in turn received a steel control valve with a door handle weighing considerably a lot more than our potato creams, and, for some unknown reason, having the same waybill number.

Although we were advised by DHL that, our parcel was damaged, and could not be retrieved, as they were not properly wrapped. They were bubble-wrapped, contrary to what DHL stated. We have photographs of the package in question and the photos showed that the tubs were not actually damaged and the bubble-wrap was cut open to display this. Because they were not packed in a box, they were wrongly despatched............this does not make sense to us !!!???

Today 15th May we contacted PostNet to find out what is happening to our parcel. Unfortunately they could not advise us.

We then contacted Nirishin Pillay of DHL Durban who advised us that they had to confirm the correct address in Dubai first, before they could despatch, even though the first parcel arrived at Dubai at the correct address ??? And this would take some time, before they will be able to despatch the parcel, and, only when they receive information that the valve parcel has been collected, will they able to deliver the potato creams.

DHL were unaware that valve parcel was actually collected from my son-in-law in Dubai on Thurs 11 May !!!! The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

We understand from Mr Pillay that the potato creams will only leave for Dubai this afternoon and may take 3 days to arrive.

So if anyone is wishing to send a parcel by DHL from Margate to Dubai, DHL is certainly not the courier service to use. As I see it, it may take approximately one month for the parcel to be delivered. Bearing in mind they have not yet been delivered, because, had we not contacted DHL, it would is still lying in their offices
