BAD SERVICE BY DHL INTERNATIONAL COURIERS

Recently bought a used laptop keyboard off E-Bay, shipping from China. The prices varied from $18 to around $42, depending on the supplier and shipping arrangements. I chose one which was selling at $35 as it included shipping. To hurry things up, I chose an option to upgrade the shipping to DHL Couriers, at an additional expense of $19. Sadly, the virus and associated Chinese shutdown delayed shipment by 4 weeks, but it was then shipped to South Africa. Upon arrival in South Africa, DHL informed me that it was to go to customs for inspection. This is quite understandable, but when they tell me customs have decided that it was under-valued on the parcel, the supplier had stated the value was $24, I sent DHL a mail to confirm the $35 price had included shipping, the keyboard was used, and the value stated was probably correct, as there are adverts for the same board as low as $18. I get a mail from DHL to tell me I was now sudenly responsible for a fine of R500-00 from Customs, and an additional R800-00 for a handling fee from DHL. I queried this by mail, and tried phoning them, left messages, but to no avail! I decided they can keep the keyboard and do whatever they want with it, as now a R550-00 keyboard would cost R1850-00, more than the price of a new one! There was no letter sent to me by customs, so I cannot even query their assessment, and as DHL had already been paid for the shipment by the supplier, I'm not prepared to pay this much more for their "handling" of the tiny little parcel. The fact that nobody has bothered to return my calls or answer my mail only serves to infuriate me even more. I will ensure that I will never make use of them again.
