ABSURD CHARGES FOR NON DUTY ITEMS - *******!!!!

I purchased a toy helicopter for my son, due to me being in a rush for the item I didnt mind paying DHL for the expedited courier charge - which amounted to around R600 ( From Hong Kong)<br> <br> When it did arrive, I was contacted by the DHL clearing department who advised me that there will be VAT payable as well as a further R150 clearing fee!<br> <br> My problem with this, why does a NON duty item require a R150 charge for clearing? - this does not make sense. I would understand if the item attracted duty and there was a fair amount of clearing work required. But in this case, it was a TOY - THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DUTY FREE!!!!!<br> <br> I spoke to a lady named Randy from their clearing offices to do something about their absurb charge. She point blankly said - NO - there is nothing that can be done. - THAT IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A ******* of charges.<br> <br> DHL already charged me R600 for getting the package to me quickly - then a further charge to CLEAR an item that did not even need clearing or duty payable!!! - <br>
