Windscreen fitment from hell coupled with terrible service
On the 28th November 2019 - I contacted my insurance, King Price, as the stone crack on my windscreen had been increasing in size. I was in Johannesburg for work and the heat wave intensified the crack. Alarmed at this, I panicked as I would be travelling to Cape Town the following week.
King Price had arranged for a glass fitment to be done at my residence in Johannesburg. They arrived on the Saturday, 30th November around 10:30am. When they had completed the task - I noticed scratches on the side panel of my vehicle, very untidy rubber work and a space between the rubber and the windscreen which meant it hadn't been fitted correctly. Before the fitters left - I queried this and I was told that they had taken pictures but they could not show me the pictures as the tablet had no signal and that I could not view it.
I then called my insurance and explained what had transpired - the call was recorded on 30 November around 12:30. On Monday, 2 December, I then contacted the DGC glass head office and spoke to Matthew. I sent pictures of the bad fitment and he sent out two assessors the next day. On the 3 December they arrived and I physically showed them all the damaged caused. At this point I was freaking out since I would be traveling to Cape Town with a windscreen that wasn't fitter properly.
I then called Matthew again the next day only to be told that the damage was there and that he would send me the photos to prove it. Till this day the photos have not been sent. I am now in Cape Town and had to drive 14 hours with a badly fitted windscreen. After many calls to the insurance - the issue has not been resolved. I am deeply appalled by the service of DGC Glass and the poor feedback from the insurance company, King Price.
