An investment of over R20,000 in a bespoke garment carries a reasonable expectation of meticulous craftsmanship, pristine administrative handling, and a professional client experience. Unfortunately, DK Couture (Designs by Kgotso) fails fundamentally on all counts. What is marketed as a high-end luxury atelier is, in reality, a disorganized household operation characterized by hostile communication, substandard finishing, and a blatant disregard for client schedules. The process was deeply flawed from inception. After accepting payment, the owners initially resisted scheduling the necessary fittings to ensure correct dimensions. When I insisted, the subsequent fitting confirmed the garment required substantial alterations. Upon returning for the designated "handover," the dress was still completely ill-fitting. Rather than presenting a finished product, the owners expected me to sit and wait indefinitely while they attempted ad-hoc, last-minute alterations. As a professional with a rigid schedule, I could not accommodate this. When I attempted to coordinate a follow-up time later that day, the husband-and-wife duo summarily dismissed the request, stating it was "too late." The following day, I arrived at an agreed-upon time between my corporate engagements. I walked in to find studio assistants frantically sewing components onto the garment at the last minute. The rush was entirely self-inflicted; the owners had repeatedly noted their impending holiday to Limpopo, making it clear that expediting this outfit for quick liquid turnover took precedence over quality control. The structural defects of the garment remain unresolved: Fit: The dress remains excessively snug and poorly proportioned. Finishing: The hemline is visibly unkept and unfinished. Interior Construction: The internal lining is exposed and shifting at the bust area. When I declined to take delivery of a defective product until the errors were rectified, the owner’s husband confronted me, defensively issuing an ultimatum that they had "done all they could do." This dismissive attitude treats premium adult clientele with the lack of flexibility one might afford teenagers purchasing off-the-rack garments. Furthermore, the physical operational environment lacks basic quality assurance. The studio occupies the lower level of a residential home directly adjacent to the kitchen. The entire space is compromised by heavy cooking odors, leaving a high-value garment smelling distinctively of kitchen oil. While the assistants appear capable, the principal designer is entirely detached from the actual execution and oversight. Both owners seemed genuinely perplexed by the structural failures of the dress, which is a direct consequence of prioritizing domestic distractions and holiday timelines over contracted deliverables. This engagement has been an exercise in severe unprofessionalism. A luxury price point demands operational sensitivity, respect for a client's time, and flawless execution. DK Couture delivers none of the above. I strongly advise discerning clients to take their business to established professionals who respect both the craft and the consumer.
