Designer Fencing / Hein De Lange – Unresolved Dispute After Payment for Gate Work
I am sharing my experience with Designer Fencing and Hein De Lange so that prospective customers can make an informed decision before entering into an agreement or making payment. I paid R36,845.00 for gate-related work and materials, including the supply and installation of a new gate motor. Unfortunately, the workmanship and outcome have been extremely disappointing. The issues I experienced include: The gate and columns were poorly constructed and have developed cracking. The welding and general workmanship were of poor quality. The paintwork was of poor quality. A used/second-hand gate motor was supp**** and installed despite me paying for a new gate motor. The second-hand motor was subsequently removed by the contractor. The motor has not been returned, leaving me with a non-functioning gate. The wiring was left incomplete, with bare wiring left exposed in my yard. Despite being given an opportunity to resolve the issues, the work was not satisfactorily completed. Following the dispute, Hein De Lange signed an acknowledgement of debt/affidavit in which the amount owing and repayment arrangement were acknowledged. The agreed repayment date was 5 August 2026. To date, I have received only R5,000, and the agreed repayment date has passed without the matter being resolved. I have made attempts to resolve this directly with the contractor, but the matter remains outstanding. This has been a very frustrating experience. I paid a substantial amount for a gate and new gate motor, yet I have been left with defective/incomplete workmanship and a gate that is not functioning. I would encourage anyone considering using Designer Fencing to carefully verify the exact equipment and materials being supp****, ensure that everything agreed upon is clearly documented, and thoroughly inspect the completed work before making final payment. I am posting this review to accurately record my experience and to give other consumers an opportunity to consider the information before deciding whether to use the service.
