Shocking Service

I was ******** by a building contractor “Anwaaz Bent” and was left with an incomplete home, so I understand that taking over from that situation cannot be easy. Derahl bk t/a ADJ Konstruksie was up to the task to complete the project. At first Andre de Jager from ADJ Konstruksie, who was the project manager and owner spent a lot of time supervising the building work and we were very happy. Unfortunately, that did not last. Not sure if it was other jobs or his own home’s renovations that took up his time, but his absence from the site was clear in the quality of work and the delays that it caused.

He structured his contract in such a way that I, as the client had to pay some of his contractors directly. Considering my previous situation, I at first through it was great, but as soon as there was an issue with the work, it suddenly became my problem to resolve with the relevant contractor, even though a weekly project management fee was paid to ADJ Konstruksie. Contractually his weekly drawings were also structured in such a way that he gets paid almost in full by the time he is “complete”.

My biggest problem is with his commitment to rectify the snags. A year after he “completed” the job, there are still snags outstanding and getting him to resolve it is proving to be an impossible task. After numerus calls, voicemails and messages, he finally responded to one of my messages, informing me that I must contact his contractors directly as they do not work for him and pay for the snags myself from the R1000 his did not draw, as he will never come to my home again.

It is my opinion that when problems are encountered on the project, Andre de Jager, as project manager does not take ownership and shifts the blame to everyone except himself. This opinion might change if he does what I paid him for, resolving the outstanding snags dated back from 13/01/2017 to complete the project.
