Disappointed

I am very disappointed with the principal of Depot Road Primary School in Chatsworth.. In mid November I filled in necessary documentation for my son's administration at the school for Grade R. I was told to come in for a parent's meeting that weekend. My husband and I attended, met the educators and principal, received home work for my son to complete over the holidays and even his stationery list. We were not told or advised of any possibilty of being declined because of the area we live in. On the 15th of December, while in town, I received a call from the principal, who I must say, is extremely rude and unpleasant over the phone. He had advised me that he was currently going through my sons application and he noticed that we live in an area that is not within the schools radius. He asked me if I tried applying to the schools nearer to me. I told him i did not try any other schools because both my nephews have schooled at depot road for many years and I was not aware of this. He tells me it's as per the department which I completely understand as they do have their rules to follow as well. I was upset at that time because it was the last day of school.. I had done everything that was necessary.. I asked him why was I not notified about this before hand and he says he's only going through our forms now.. In my opinion that's very wrong on their part as I should have been told about this at the very beginning. I was now very upset because at no time did he apologize for any inconvenience. I had told him that I would find my son another school. He cuts the call and then calls me sister who currently has her son at the same school,which I feel is extremely unprofessional and childish. He phones my sister to basically tell her that I didn't understand what he meant in his phone call and that I'm upset and taking off with him saying that I'm going to take this matter further.. He didn't realize that I was with my sister at the time.. She hands me the phone and he changes his story completely saying that he never once told me he declined my son entrance to the school. Apparently he said to me when he asked me if I went to other schools, he said I should have just said no because i like the school and I want my son to attend. Seriously.. I stil can't believe this man's response.. He was even more rude and abrupt in the second call.. He was getting upset with me when I had every single right to be upset. Yes I completely understand they have rules but the right thing to do was tell me in advance so I'm aware that my son is not fully accepted at the school.. I had to rush from town to Chatsworth to get to a school that was stil open to enroll my son for the new year. I kept on asking him if my son was going to be accepted or not and he never once gave me an answer. I ended the call by telling him not to worry about anything and that my son would be going to another school. Depot Road primary school has been a school i really looked up to over the years but after having this encounter with the principal of the school I would not want my son to go there at all... Extremely disappointed with such behavior...
