*******ion in the government sport & recreation department is alive & well in the Nelson Mandela Metro.stories on first hand experience with this department is astounding.reports with supporting evidence has simply fallen on deaf ears.it is obviously not far fetched to assume that higher up in government is in agreement with these ********** activities.just a few examples. Sports & Recreation is issued with funds to hire 4 luxury busses to transport kids to east london.local municipal staff the hire 1 unroadworthy bus from a private contractor, have the kids double-up on seats & merely pocket the rest of the funds.Funds allocated for fencing, lighting,irrigation & a club house at a soccer field in Lindsay road port elizabeth has to date not materialized. Numerous call & enquiries is simply met with resistance.A letter & numerous emails to the sports minister over a 3 year period has yielded no results. The upgrading of schoenmakers malay camp beach is another.efforts to acquire this contract with the intention to upgrade & improve this facility has also been met with anger resistance & not to mention threats.millions of rands gets allocated to these projects in the Nelson Mandela Metro region yet nothing gets done. When reported, once again, nothing. No accountability, no action. Thats government in the Nelson Mandela Metro for you.
