CPA Law of SOuth Africa in regards of Guarantee / Warranty

<p>I was met with a harsh reality about the CPA in South Africa in regards of the so called Guarantee we as customers were given by Suppliers / Manufacturers. Guarantee is such a misleading word. After a very very aggressive argument with Makro (the Supplier) in regards of the Consumer Protection Act we have learned that the brand new product, doesn't matter WHAT PRODUCT you buy have the following "guarantee" and "warranty"....Meaning....the new electronic product you buy ONLY have (PLEASE NOTE - ONLY) a 6 month guarantee in which it breaks because of a manufacturer fault, the customer have the right to refund/repair/return the product 100%. AFTER 6 months its a warranty that kicks in...so you have one option...repair. Thus the 1 year guarantee that is on boxes / products / adverti*****ts are absolute a blatant lie cause in South Africa we only have a 6 month Guarantee and a 6 month Warranty. 90% of South Africans are people that DON'T have access to the internet to look up the CPA law....that was Makro's answer to us - go look up the law in regards of guarantee of the CPA. All the suppliers sell these products with a 1 year guarantee that the product will work without defect...but after 6 months - if it breaks I the customer have to wait up to 21 working days before they can have the product return to them...so in other words I pay a hell of alot of money for a product because of its guarantee and high standard but sit with my hand in my hair if it breaks after 6 months....so think about the effect it has if e.g. a microwave breaks in a household with 2 babies and they need the microwave to sterilize the bottles for feeding...but oh golly, we can't use the microwave because it broke in month 8 after purchase and now i have to wait 21 days for the repair in which i think is totally unfair towards the customer. Why the heck must we ever buy local in South Africa? I bought a Phillips kettle...sticker on the box says 2 year GUARANTEE...the cashier told me at the shop...okay mam, only 1 year guarantee....i said no, there is a 2 year guarantee....cashier...no mam, we give you a one year guarantee and after that you need to contact the manufacturer cause then its a warranty....someone in the Trade industry need to clarify Guarantee and Warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to my understanding we are sold lies...guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!</p>
