The ************** Of People with Disabilities at DSD

On 12 August 2019 I was accompanied by my sister and mother to the DSD office in Tsolo, Eastern Cape to get answers about how we can register our Non Profit Company that we had registered online via CIPC. This was not my first visit to the DSD office because the previous social worker promised to help us but didn't even respond to our calls and messages. So this time we were assisted by another social worker and she reviewed our documents but was unsure about our CK because she was only fami**** with the one from CIPRO . Anyways her manger helped her understand and we registered as PBO and are waiting for our DSD certificate . I found it so strange that I was more informed than the social workers.

The social worker then asked if I would be interested in participating in the youth camp in September where I will be traveling provincially with them and learning and discovering my s****s and sharing my experience as a young entrepreneur . So I agreed to participate because they told me that they have been looking for people with disabilities for years who are as confident but they never showed up. So at the beginning of September I called the social worker to ask if I am still on board . She told me that the spokesperson of DSD fumbled something about not being able to accommodate youth from the Eastern Cape and there was some problem with the mayor, so they have put it on hold . I felt so humiliated and ridiculed because my time was wasted again by government officials and what ****ed me off is that I could see online posts of the youth camp and it had already started. It's either social workers are too relaxed or our municipality is not doing enough to encourage communities to participate in government programmers and this side of the Eastern Cape is described as lazy and not interested . Why has the government isolated the Eastern Cape? It is no wonder parents are quite skeptical of their children participating in government programmers because it's always playing with our emotions and I don't blame people for loosing interest . We can't allow our government to continue promoting this lie .
